- 4 medium or large pears (Bosc or Anjou)
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 whole lemon (juice only)
- 2 to 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (cut into cubes)
- 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
- Optional: spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F. Prepare a baking dish by lining it with parchment paper or spraying it with nonstick spray.
- Peel and core the pears if using Bosc; leave the skin on for softer varieties like Anjou.
- Place the pears cut side up in the baking dish. Drizzle lemon juice over them and sprinkle brown sugar along with any desired spices.
- Dot each pear with cubes of butter and sprinkle with kosher salt.
- Bake for about 30 minutes cut side up, then turn them cut side down and bake for an additional 20-50 minutes until tender and caramelized.
