  • 1.52 pounds flank steak
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Spice mix (cumin, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, chili powder, onion powder, pepper, cayenne)

Instructions

  1. In a small sealable container, combine all spice mix ingredients.
  2. In a large freezer bag, whisk together marinade ingredients; add 3 tablespoons of spice mix and combine.
  3. Place the flank steak in the marinade bag and refrigerate for 4-12 hours.
  4. Before grilling, mix remaining spice mix with olive oil to create a rub.
  5. Pat dry the marinated steak and apply the spice rub evenly; let it rest at room temperature for 30-60 minutes.
  6. Grill over medium-high heat for about 5-6 minutes on each side until desired doneness is reached (130-135°F for medium rare).
  7. Rest the steak for 10 minutes before slicing against the grain.
