  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (for sauce)
  • 1 tsp sugar (for sauce)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (for sauce)
  • 1/2 tbsp apple vinegar (or rice apple vinegar for sauce)
  • 1 tsp dark soy sauce (substitute with regular soy sauce if needed)
  • 1/2 cup water (for sauce)
  • 1/2 white onion (or yellow onion, thinly sliced)
  • 45 slices ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced or thinly sliced)
  • 1 stalk green onion (cut into 2-inch pieces)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the vegetables by thinly slicing the onion, mincing garlic, and cutting ginger and green onions.
  2. Marinate the beef with soy sauce, vinegar, water, and sesame oil for 15 minutes before adding cornstarch.
  3. Mix together the stir fry sauce ingredients in a bowl until combined.
  4. Heat oil in a wok over high heat and sear the marinated beef until about 90% cooked; set aside.
  5. Sauté ginger until fragrant, add garlic and onions, then pour in the sauce and cook until thickened.
  6. Return beef and green onions to combine everything well.
  7. Serve hot with steamed rice.
