- 1 cup all-purpose flour

- 3 large ripe bananas (about 1 1/2 cups mashed)
- 1/4 cup salted butter (melted and slightly cooled)
- 1/3 cup applesauce or cooking oil
- 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper and grease it.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth. Mix in melted butter and applesauce (or oil), followed by brown sugar, egg, and vanilla until well combined.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined; do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan evenly.
- Bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour and 10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with few crumbs attached.
- Allow cooling in the pan for at least 30 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
