- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ cup cold butter (1 stick)
- 6 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 egg
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips (about 10–11 oz)
- Optional: ¼ cup walnut pieces
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 475°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, salt, and baking soda.
- In another bowl, combine cold butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla until well blended.
- Mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Stir in chocolate chips and optional walnuts gently.
- Scoop tablespoon portions onto prepared sheets with space in between.
- Bake for 6-7 minutes or until golden brown on top.
- Let cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack.
