- Firm Tart Apples (Granny Smith recommended)
- Granulated Sugar: 2 cups
- Light Corn Syrup: 1 cup
- Water: ½ cup
- Red Food Coloring: 1-2 teaspoons
- Candy Apple Sticks
Instructions
- Clean and dry the apples thoroughly to remove any wax. Insert candy sticks into the stem end of each apple.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Heat over medium-high until sugar dissolves.
- Bring to a rolling boil without stirring until the thermometer reads 300-310°F (149-154°C). Remove from heat and stir in food coloring.
- Dip each apple into the hot candy coating, allowing excess to drip off before placing on the prepared baking sheet.
- Allow the candy apples to cool completely for 30-60 minutes before serving.
