- 1 cup basmati rice (rinsed)
- 2 cups chicken broth
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional, for brightness)
Instructions
- Begin by gathering all your ingredients. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil. Season the chicken breasts with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken to the hot skillet. Sear for about 5–7 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and diced onion; sauté until softened (about 3–4 minutes). Pour in heavy cream and chicken broth. Stir well to combine. Add dried thyme, rosemary, oregano, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until cheese melts smoothly into the sauce.
- Return seared chicken to skillet along with rinsed basmati rice. Pour in additional chicken broth; stir gently to combine everything evenly. Bring mixture to a simmer; cover with a lid. Cook on low heat for about 25–30 minutes until rice is tender.
