  • 0.3 lbs ground beef
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 3 cubes Japanese curry roux
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups panko/breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling by sautéing onions in vegetable oil until translucent. Add diced carrots and potatoes, cooking until tender. Mix in ground beef until browned, then combine soy sauce, ketchup, water, and curry roux; simmer until thickened.
  2. For the dough, mix bread flour, cake flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast in a bowl. Melt butter into warm milk and add to dry ingredients along with one egg. Knead the mixture for about 10 minutes until smooth and let it rise until doubled in size.
  3. Roll out the dough into rounds, fill each with the curry mixture, fold over, and pinch edges tightly. Let rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Fry each bun after coating with cornstarch mixed with an egg and panko breadcrumbs until golden brown.
