- 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a large mixing bowl in the microwave for about 40 seconds until mostly melted.
- Whisk the butter until fully liquefied, then add both sugars and mix well.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and egg until completely incorporated.
- Add flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt; mix until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips gently until evenly distributed.
- Using a cookie scoop, drop dough balls onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space between them.
- Bake for about 7-10 minutes; cookies should be puffy and slightly underbaked in the center.
