Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine Maseca masa harina and a pinch of salt.
- Gradually add water and mix with your hands until the dough is well combined.
- Knead until the dough has a smooth texture that doesn’t stick to your hands.
- Divide the dough into 12 portions and cover with a damp towel.
- Heat a comal or skillet over medium heat.
- Roll one portion into a ball and flatten it between two plastic sheets using a tortilla press or heavy dish.
- Cook each gordita on the hot skillet for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden spots appear.
- Cut a slit in each cooked gordita to create pockets for stuffing.
