  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 33.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 34 tablespoons water
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 23 teaspoons milk

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together warm milk, melted butter, and remaining sugar. Add salt and vanilla.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to the wet ingredients and mix well. Gradually incorporate 3 cups of flour along with spices until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough, fold in raisins, divide into 12 portions, shape into balls, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Cover and let rise again for about an hour until puffy.
  8. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for about 22 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Prepare icing by mixing powdered sugar with maple syrup and milk to desired consistency.
  10. Drizzle icing over cooled buns before serving.
