Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cold unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold whole milk
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup bittersweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly.
- Gradually incorporate milk and water until the mixture forms a dough. Knead gently until smooth.
- Shape the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Roll out the chilled dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick; fold it into thirds like a letter. Repeat this process two more times.
- Roll out again into a larger rectangle; cut into triangles. Add chocolate chips and sliced almonds to the wide end of each triangle and roll up tightly.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place croissants on a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush with egg wash.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
