Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm whole milk (110°F)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 2 tbsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes). Gradually add melted butter, eggs, salt, and flour to form a soft dough.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area until doubled (about 1 hour).
  3. For the filling, mix mascarpone cheese with sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle (½ inch thick) and spread the mascarpone filling evenly over it.
  5. Roll the dough tightly into a log shape; slice it in half lengthwise to reveal the layers. Twist both halves together and place in a greased loaf pan; let rise again for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 35 minutes until golden brown.
