Ingredients
- 4 small tart apples (e.g., Braeburn)
- 300 g sugar
- 2 tbsp pomegranate juice
- 1 pinch red food coloring
- Ice cubes
- Edible gold (optional)
- Wooden skewers or paper straws
Instructions
- Roll the pomegranates on a countertop to maximize juice extraction. Halve and press through a sieve for clear juice.
- In a pot, mix 2 tbsp of pomegranate juice with 300 g sugar until dissolved over medium heat.
- Cook the mixture until thickened and bubbling; add red food coloring and stir well.
- Test consistency by dropping a spoonful into ice water—if it hardens, it's ready.
- Wash apples thoroughly, remove stems, and insert skewers/straws.
- Dip each apple in the candy coating; turn to cover completely. Quickly plunge into ice water to set.
- Let cool on parchment paper; decorate with edible gold if desired.
