Ingredients
- 6 Granny Smith apples
- 2 cups white sugar
- ½ cup water
- ½ tsp red food coloring
- 2 Tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Prepare a large bowl of salted water. Peel the apples and use a melon baller to scoop out ball shapes. Place the apple balls in the salted water to prevent browning.
- Pat dry the apple balls and place them on parchment paper. Insert lollipop sticks into each ball and freeze for 15 minutes.
- In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, water, food coloring, and lemon juice over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat until it reaches 300-310°F (hard crack stage).
- Dip each chilled apple ball into the hot candy mixture quickly and place on parchment paper to set. Freeze for a few more minutes until fully hardened.
