- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (non-alcoholic)
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (can use less or replace with 1 Tbsp fresh thyme)
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, soak the panko bread crumbs in milk.
- Sauté diced onions in butter until fragrant, then add minced garlic.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, soaked breadcrumbs, sautéed onions and garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and salt. Mix gently and shape into a loaf on the baking sheet.
- Bake uncovered for about 40 minutes. Meanwhile, mix ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard in a separate bowl.
- After 40 minutes, spread the sauce over the meatloaf and bake for an additional 30-35 minutes until it reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
