  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tbsp fresh orange juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch cake tin.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, ground cardamom, and salt.
  3. Cream softened butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract, orange zest, and fresh orange juice until combined.
  4. Fold in the chopped dates until evenly distributed.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture into the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared tin and bake for about 40–45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. For the honey drizzle, warm honey and fresh orange juice in a saucepan until smooth.
  8. Once baked, let cool slightly before drizzling with the honey mixture and allow cooling completely before serving.
