Ingredients
- 8 oz flank, skirt, or sirloin steak, thinly sliced
- 14 oz cooked or frozen udon noodles
- 1 tbsp vegetable or avocado oil
- ½ small onion, thinly sliced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 3 tbsp water (slurry)
- 1 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
- Optional: Sliced scallions and sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain and season lightly with salt and pepper.
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, black pepper, and cornstarch slurry; set aside.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the beef for about 2-3 minutes until browned; remove from the pan.
- In the same skillet, sauté minced garlic and sliced onion for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add cooked udon noodles and prepared sauce; toss until well-coated and heated through (about 2-3 minutes).
- Return the seared beef to the pan; mix everything until hot. Serve immediately topped with optional garnishes.
