Ingredients
- 3 family-sized black tea bags (or 12 individual tea bags)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 quarts water (divided)
- Fresh mint leaves or lemon slices (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Boil 4 cups of water in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Remove from heat once boiling.
- Dunk the tea bags into the hot water several times to hydrate before steeping. Let steep for 5 minutes then remove the tea bags.
- Stir in 1 cup of sugar until fully dissolved.
- Pour the sweetened tea into a 1-gallon pitcher and add the remaining 3 quarts of cold water. Mix well.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for optimal chilling.
- Serve over ice and garnish with mint leaves or lemon slices if desired.
