Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter (for topping)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup fresh sliced strawberries
- 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup white sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter (for batter)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a 9-inch round baking pan, melt the butter over low heat and mix in brown sugar until well combined. Spread evenly across the bottom of the pan and layer sliced strawberries on top.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, white sugar, and baking powder. Add milk, remaining butter, egg, and vanilla; mix until smooth with an electric mixer.
- Carefully pour the batter over the strawberries without disturbing them. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cool for 5-10 minutes before flipping onto a serving plate.
