- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 egg
- ½ cup barbecue sauce
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon paprika (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until combined.
- Press the mixture into the baking dish and top with barbecue sauce; bake for 25 minutes.
- Cook elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain.
- In a saucepan, melt butter; whisk in flour then slowly add milk until thickened. Stir in cheese until melted.
- Fold cooked macaroni into cheese sauce; pour over the meatloaf layer in the baking dish.
- Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
