- 200g all-purpose flour
- 200g sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 120g unsalted butter
- 2 large oranges (zest and juice)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 100ml whole milk
- Optional: 1 tablespoon orange blossom water
- 150g powdered sugar (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and prepare a greased and floured 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate eggs one at a time into the mixture.
- Stir in orange zest, juice, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl; gradually fold into the wet mixture.
- Gently mix in milk and orange blossom water (if using) until smooth.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with freshly squeezed orange juice until smooth.
- Allow the cake to cool before drizzling with glaze.
