Ingredients
- 700g beef chuck, cut into bite-sized cubes
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup beef broth or water
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until translucent (about 5 minutes). Stir in garlic and ginger; cook for another minute.
- Add turmeric, cumin, coriander, paprika, and red chili powder; sauté for 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in pureed tomatoes and simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened.
- Add beef cubes; cook for about 5 minutes until browned.
- Pour in beef broth (or water) and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cover; simmer for about 1.5 hours until beef is tender.
- Stir in plain yogurt and garam masala before serving hot with garlic naan or rice.
