Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 TBSP softened butter (for icing)
  • 2 TBSP milk (for icing)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 5 TBSP milk (for icing)
  • 2 TBSP corn syrup
  • red and blue food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together sugar and butter. Add egg, sour cream, and vanilla; mix well.
  3. Gradually stir in flour, baking soda, and salt until smooth.
  4. Spread dough evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking pan. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely.
  5. For the icing, whisk powdered sugar, softened butter, and milk until smooth. Divide icing into three bowls; color one red and one blue.
  6. Spread white icing over cooled bars and pipe red and blue icing on top. Use a knife to swirl colors gently.
