- 8 pound bone-in beef shoulder roast
- 1 tablespoon neutral oil (canola, peanut, or avocado)
- 3 cups Dr. Pepper
- 3 cups BBQ sauce
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 24 slider buns
- Sliced pickles for serving
Instructions
- Brown the beef roast in a large skillet with oil over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes per side.
- Mix garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and kosher salt; rub onto the meat.
- Transfer the seasoned roast to a slow cooker and pour Dr. Pepper around it.
- Cook on low for 6-8 hours until tender; shred beef and mix in BBQ sauce.
- Serve on slider buns topped with pickles.
