  • 2 lbs flank steak
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 6 tablespoons neutral oil (divided)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon complete seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 medium white onion (sliced)
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Boil the flank steak with bay leaves and salt in enough water to cover until tender (about 1 to 1.5 hours). Strain and reserve the broth.
  2. Shred the cooked beef using two forks.
  3. Marinate shredded beef with lime juice, 2 tablespoons of oil, garlic, complete seasoning, and salt/pepper for about 30 minutes.
  4. Heat remaining oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry the marinated beef in batches until crispy on both sides.
  5. Sauté sliced onions in the same skillet until soft.
  6. Serve hot with rice, beans, and lime wedges.
