Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups uncooked sushi rice
- 2 cups water
- 2 teaspoons toasted black sesame seeds
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons fruit juice
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Nori sheets
Instructions
- Rinse the sushi rice until the water runs clear. Combine with water in a rice cooker or pot and cook until done.
- Mix cooked rice with toasted sesame seeds and sesame oil. Let cool slightly.
- Wet hands and shape about 1/2 cup of cooled rice into triangles or use a mold.
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, fruit juice, and sugar until dissolved.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat with a little oil. Grill each rice ball for about 2-3 minutes per side until crispy.
- Reduce heat to low; brush one side of each onigiri with the soy mixture for caramelization.
